More on this. C&D tested the brakes of 3 cars under full throttle conditions:
How To Deal With Unintended Acceleration - Tech Dept. - Auto Reviews - Car and Driver In the comments, a few points were brought out, especilly about the affected Lexus model. 1. Not only throttle, but shifting is electronically controlled on this car. 2. There is no key, but a fob carried by thge driver, and a start/stop button. 3. The ECU defeats shifting and the off button under full throttle conditions. Still, proper application of the brakes would have stopped the car. Appears Toyota may have made some errors, here. The best suggestion I've heard is to mount a kill switch on the dash. Hell, all bikes have them, right?
