Just like anything else, where and when you speed is more important than how fast you are going. Picking your spots is the key to survival.

Totally different situation. a GSXR can break 100 in second gear, for a Harley touring bike it's a little more difficult and I was tickled to be able to do it. This was early morning on a long straight stretch of freeway with no traffic.

I was referring more to the loud pipes, but the speed thing applies, too.

That's OK. Some of my bikes are loud and I do it all the time.
