But not nearly as funny as the original, Death Race 2000.

One of those cars would make an excellent commuter vehicle if you lived in Dallas-Fort Worth. Or San Francisco. Especially San Francisco.

Dunno about that, either. I still think that no CGI has ever surpassed Jurassic Park. I just never got that cartoony feeling from that. But maybe that's because I never saw a real dinosaur. The worst CGI was the aircraft in Pearl Harbor and Enemy at the Gates. Totally took me out of Enemy at the Gates (Pearl Harbor took me out of Pearl Harbor. What a POS.)

I'm pretty torn about seeing Avatar. Everybody says to see it just because it's so pretty, but I hate to reward lazy, stupid writing. Especially the "sensitive white guy teaches perfect native people how to be even better perfect native people and is accepted by perfect native people because of his very non-white-guy sensitivity" crap. I don't like paying money for rich white liberals' spiritual masturbation fantasies.
There was nothing cartoonish in the IMAX version; I can't say how it would come off on a regular screen.

As for the politics: I'm not in favor of nun beatings, but I enjoy movies about them from time to time. Tarantino's stuff is a fine example of behaviour I don't approve of, but I enjoy the movies none the less.

Regular screen = OK too, no cartoonie. I saw the previews as well: they don't do the actual 3D justice.
