Well, when PCs were running Windows95 and 98 and Vista there were a whole lot of reasons why Macs were worth the xtra bucks. Mainly you didn't have to reboot them 5 times a day. However with XP that's all changed. XP is pretty stable and there is no clear advantage with Mac unless you are a progfessional graphic artist. Vista has been pretty crappy but by all account windows7 is going to be pretty stable. So it boils down to whether you think the Mac is worth the extra cost.

I wouldn't get either a Mac or windows laptop. I'd run Unbutu. It beats them all to shyt for a fast laptop.

Since we're in geek mode: Vista was never unstable, it was incompatible. People loaded their software on it and it didn't work. Meanwhile MS sent out software development kits for everyone to port the apps with, and nobody wanted to spend the time and money to do so. Windows 7 is "New Improved" Vista; but by now most apps are Vista compliant. So it will seem more stable, but it's really the same underlying architecture as Vista. Which, BTW, is a very robust architecture. The controls and management tools are extensive, and the O/S kernel is extremely well-insulated from the apps.

My 10 year old Dell w/ windows XP works just fine, I don't know why everyone bags on them so much. Other then the "Bill Gates is the Devil" crowd's rants I don't see anything wrong with microsoft, the guy built an industry by working harder than anyone else and now that he's filthy stinkin' rich he gives away a ton of money to all kinds of charities. I guess it's just cool to hate American sucess stories

I love MC parts all over the garage. It seprates the motorcyclists from the throttle twisters.

If you want to figure out why your computer doesn't work, take a look in the mirror. Mine works just fine, and always did. Computers aren't stupid, but people are.

Because most people ain't got the sense God gave an ant. That's how Macs get bought.

The toshiba i'm looking at is about $150 more than the lenovo. The Sony is about $150 more than the toshiba. I love my current toshiba but I can't justify the price difference considering all the features are the same. To hell with the IBM recovery system- my IT geek wifey worked for IBM before the Turner Studios gig. If it breaks she can fix it. Question is: Is the daily use of this machine going to be as reliable as the toshiba. Wifey says yes- but she did work for the company once upon a time. The Dell we have blew up. The Gateway was born trash. The Mcbook Pro belongs to Turner and the Acer has not broken but is ugly and out of date.
