Default RIP Consignment- Hello Cigar sales

This is very hush, hush stuff. Abandoning the Storage idea- lack of affordable space. Abandoning the Consignment- retail too expensive.

So- my new venture is a departure of motorcycles (except I'll keep ACE opened).

Mobile cigar store- operated out of a retired ambulance. The inside will be converted into a humidor. What say you fellow morons....

Good idea except for the fact that tobacco is now regulated by the FDA. Expect new regulations that make selling the stuff impossible.... here in the Land of the Free.

Why mobile? Don't cigar guys like to go to the store and hang out? I know some of the stores rent out humidors so the old lady doesn't wise up on the expense. I guess you could park in front of Cheetah's and sell them...

Then again, any business plan that starts with a retired ambulance has a lot going for it.

Who ya gonna call? Stogie Busters!!

I thought the cigar phaze died out about 2 years or so ago after a large spike in popularity after Monica & Bill

A mobile weed store maybe. Cigars? Never.

Execs like to have things delivered. The idea hit me from an article I read where this dude converted an Airstream into a rolling lounge. I can buy a retired ambulance for less than $8000. About $1500 and you can convert all the storage into cedar bins. Rent is about $1500 or more a month and I can own a rolling cigar store for less money. I'd do bike shows, boat shows, races, hotrod shows and such. It's not a long term plan. More of a "something new to do" idea. I figure that we're only good for about 8 more years before they kill the industry all together, but for low investment (less than $20K) I can have all my licensing, insurance, truck and inventory to start.
I'd head out to popular ride stops, bike nights, and alike. Mostly, the money side would be from my internet sales. I've got a friend that owned a cigar bar that will get me in with the major wholesalers. Only reason he closed his bar is because the road he's on is in a constant state of flux thanks to GDOT. He got tired of waiting for them to finish and shut it down.
I know that we're all supposed to be healthier, but those attorneys, bankers, insurance and coke execs need to get their stogies from someone. If I came to them instead of them going to a shop I figure that I can make my marketplace. When I started ACE I said I'd go to the people get them interested. It worked- mostly. If I go to the big bank buildings and the word gets out I can be making money after the first 5 people enter the bus. My cigar guys swears that the average customer spends $45 per visit. He sees around 30 people a day and his overhead is insane. My overhead is 1/5 of his. If I stopped at 3 or 4 locations a day and can get 8-10 buyers per location I would be seeing the same customer numbers. Then there are the shows. When I do bike shows I can see as many as 5000 people in a weekend in most cases. If 5% smoke cigars it should make for a busy weekend.

Yeah Cigars! Sotck some Arturo Fuente, Cohiba, and Punch cigs and I'm in. A nice bottle of port and I'll be good for the night. I think this is an idea that will take off Ace.

Didn't Cheech and Chong make a movie about this once?

That's kinda the point. I couldn't sell wine or any alcohol because I'm mobile, but I am not restricted by people bringing something with them. I would set up a little patio area using one of those camper awnings and setting up tables and chairs. I would have a widescreen flat panel on the side of the truck so you can watch business news to racing depending on venue. In the winter you can put walls up and heat the inside.

You might be onto something, Kirk!

I'd suggest a vehicle other than a used ambulance. They are built very heavy, with a lot of features you'd never use.

And, they've usually had the wee run out of them. Ergo, higher maintenance and service issues for you.

There are a lot of RV's sitting around gathering moss. You'd be much better off with a bigger rig. Plus, you could use the tray storage for your tables and stuff.
