That hardly described him. The Old Man was crustier and more of a curmudgeon than any two of you guys.........

I also found out that he was one of only a handful of Sailors (in the '70s and '80s) that made it to Petty Officer without any semblance of an education. With the "New Navy" of the '90s, they essentially dead-ended him for lack of a sheepskin, then pushed him out because he was no-longer progressing.
