So you're saying - in all seriousness - that you would have had no problem whatsoever with Bush doing the same thing with the Iraq debate? Really?

I'm skeptical.

No, 12er (and Ken), that is not a bad example. The point is not whether or not the issue stands on its own merits. The point is, is it proper for an administration to solicit information from its citizens about the opposition of other citizens to the administration's plans.

You cannot say, "Well, it would have been bad for Bush to do it, because the Iraq War was Wrong, and those who debated it were Right, but it's OK for Obama, because government healthcare is Right and to debate it is Wrong." That's totalitarian thinking.
