Yeah, and having to replace 4000 lbs. worth of batteries in seven or eight years. No thanks. Make a diesel-electric hybrid, like a locomotive.
You could even get the Electramotive division of GM to build it!

The Prius has a 10 year 150,000 mile battery warrantee.

I do agree with the diesel remarks though. I do prefer them also.

So after 9 years you better have that car sold. The battery replacement will cost more than the car is worth.

You got that right. I doubt dad will keep it 5 years though. Hell, it'll probably be gone after 3.

That's a "Pro-Rata" warranty, BTW; - my Sis-in-law "owns" a Prius. And you have to pony-up $3600 extra to get that warranty on it, too.

I have to ask, though: WHO is gonna recycle all these toxic chemicals? The "New GM" has just effectively washed its hands of anything the "Old GM" ever did, including Mercury Pollution: GM says mercury pollution not its problem anymore - Yahoo! Finance

Oh, I already KNEW who was gonna foot the bill - just wondered if it'll be "OK" in the future to just say "Oh, we're a NEW CORPORATION now, and because "WE" never despoiled the environment, or manufactured anything hazardous or toxic - "WE" are not responsible for "THAT" (even though "we" are the same people who actually did those things).

That would suck no matter how good the mileage was.
