The reason a comedian like Al Franken could even stand a chance at getting elected is because so many people were utterly disgusted and sick of the conservative goverment they'd been under for the last couple of decades. Obama and the Democratic revival is a reflection of that disgust; states that hadn't elected a Dem Senator or Govenor for a generation are changing from Blue to Red. Dubya capped it off with his two-term disaster, resulting in a Black almost Muslim dude named Hussien getting elected. Had to be a "Perfect Storm" for that to happen.

What conservative government?

The only reason Franken could get elected because he ran in Minn. ,the state that elected Jesse Ventura as governor. the loon is a good choice for state bird of that state!

Jesse was actually a pretty good governor. He straightened out a lot of things. Though they have been "righted" by proper pols since then.

But no more slanted and revisionary that the last 2 or 3 thousand.

I don't think it's the least bit slanted to say that there was a conservative government in place for the past couple of decades. Republicans are conservative; maybe not as conservative as Seruzawa, but then, I don't think anybody is. Most Republicans are distinctly conservative when compared to most Democrats.

Saying there was a backlash against Bush that had reverberations throughout all levels of government is hardly revisionary. Don't you recall the election season when Republican candidates were asking Bush NOT to show up because being associated with him was poison? There was a huge shift in voting patterns and the makeup of Congress and (obviously) the Executive Branch the past two years. It's not revisionary, it's simple math. Count the number of Democratic versus Republican Congressmen, Senators, Governors, etc. in 2004 and again in 2008. The numbers are pretty clear.

Backlash against Bush? Sure. And another one is coming against the Dems that they will try to avoid with amnesty and the usual fraud and tossing of servicemens' ballots that we've come to expect from the liberals. But it's okay because you see liberals are RIGHT and everyone else is evil since they disagree so anything is justifiable to save the world from people who disagree with liberals.

Now you can say Bush is conservative, but it's not any kind of conservatism I've understood and if you think I'm the most conservative person in the USA than you have been in Florida too long. You keep confusing libertarianism with conservatism. The Republicans and Democrats are both parties of corruption and socialism and totalitarian power who believe that anyone who opposes massive govt is some sort of radical freak. I guess one could claim Bush was conservative somewhat because of the fetal stem cell research ban on federal funds, but that sort of research was going on anyhow. And those restrictions on the killing of pre-born babies might qualify too, but beside those things Bush engaged in wild social spending, massive expansions of federal power and bloody foreign wars... all of which are traditional liberal activities despite all the sanctimonious caterwauling the lefties use to pretend otherwise.

So, you said that Obama couldn't be worse than Bush. Sorry but foreign leaders are snickering at that lightweight empty suit. He's an idiot who needs coreographed press conferences and a teleprompter or he descends into babbling incoherency. His foreign campaign speeches have achieved nothing. Less than Bush.. the ultimate irony. After years of whining about deficits the Dems are spending as much money this year as was spent in the entire history of the Republic from 1784 to 2008. The hypocrisy could be cut with a knife it's so thick. As I type this Geithner is traveling the world trying to convince countries to buy our debt. If they don't the Fed will begin printing money to cover the debts and here we go with inflation in the teens or worse.

I won't do more than mention the viciousness with which the Baraqis go after the individual citizens who have inadvertently embarassed their Low Rent Messiah.

So (I guess there are some Republicans around here) both of you guys have run my country into the ditch. There's not a nickel's difference between your two parties. A pox on you both. But, hey, Goldman Sachs, Obamalama's and Bush's real boss, is cleaning up. Gotta keep those priorities straight.

You guys can keep playing your ridiculous Dem vs Pube game but a lot if us are wising up. Both Parties are in the pockets of Wall Street. You've manged to do in 240 years what it took the Romans 2000 years... run the nation into the ditch of bankruptcy. Time for both parties to go.

Can you prove they didn't? :p

He may have wacky ideas like that, but he still did good things for MN; and that's what he was elected to do.

Here's my little gift from KPAULSQUIDAVENGRIDERSOMETHINGOROTHER:

Every thread turns into a political crapola supporting the idiot W. eg. The Buell 1125 R review The most hypocritical jerks are in charge. Any one that challenges their group think is banned and censored. I am sure God has a surprise for longride and seruzawa in the form of some bad karma for denial of free speech... They will probably share a cell with Hitler in hell someday. I figured that no one reads the MO forum anymore cause of these buffons. The MO staff like that so the forum doesn't upstage their articles.

I have to email that guy who came up with the "every political thread on a public board will eventually include a reference to Hitler or the Nazis." That was brilliant.

Most cars and motorcycles have been treated with termite paint. The government has secret detonation transmitters spread around the country disguised as closed Krispy Kreme donut shops. If we try to rebel, they'll trigger the paint and take us out. They left all pickup trucks untouched...go figure.
