Yep, old Rudyard could write a good backroom ballad. "The Young British Soldier" is one of my favorites. Another good line from the ballad:

"When 'arf yer bullets go wild and land in a ditch,
Don't call your Martini a cross-eyed old b!tch.
She's 'uman as your are,
And treat 'er as sich
And she'll fight for the young British soldier..."

Martini as in Martini-Henry rifle. First of the dropping block, breech loading cartridge rifles.
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.
