Default Go Green, end up in court!

Now this is funny.

You'll also note the guy is not a math whiz, spending 20,000 to save 500 a year.

Hahhah, "quiet as a birdsong". Yes, a 40 foot tall bird with 10 foot spinning blades. Maybe they can hook up an old Vauxhaul with a belt drive off one of the rear rims to a generator, and run it on chicken poop next time. I swear....

He's 55 years old and put this thing in 2 years ago, at 53. At a cost of 20,000, to save 500/year....while it'll pay for itself when he's a mere 93 years young.

You, sir, are the reason the 'green' movement is so easy to ridicule. Extreme costs for a pitiful, pitiful savings is kinda stupid.

Some guy put a windmill on his land not many miles from where I live back in the 80s. He disconnected his power and the power company got a law passed that required everyone to have power hooked up whether they use it or not. (Notice how the govt protects the people.... HA!) Anyhoo he sued and the court decided that the power company had to buy back his power if he was forced to hook up. Kinda cool. 'Course he was on a farm mile a long way from other homes.

The savings isn't what would attract me to one of these things if I lived where he does. Being off the grid and energy self-sufficient would be really cool.

Gee, I love that kind of noise. It will put me right to sleep; a jet or a boat, I rest better there than in a quiet room. I think his neighbors are assholes.

Default Speaking of Which - Bring on the Nukes!

Found this article in Maritime Reporter:

Proton Power Systems, a designer, developer, and producer of fuel cells and fuel cell hybrid systms, unveiled what it is calling theworlds first fuel cell driven passenger ship, running on a hybrid fuel cell drive technology.

The ZemShip (Zero Emissions Ship), based in Hamburg, Germany, is designed to run on a hybrid unit integrating two of Proton Motor's 48kW fuel cell systems and a lead gel battery. An intelligent energy management system co-oridnates the output of power between the fuel cells and the battery to offer twice the fuel efficiency of a standard diesel engine ship. The fuel cell hybrid system provides a non-polluting and virtually silent drive. It uses up to 50 kg of gaseous hydrogen stored in onboard tanks, sufficient to provide fuel for around 3 days use.

I suppose in theory that sounds great, but would you really spend 20 grand for it?

What do you do if the wind stops blowing for a few days?
