They all knew what was going on then. They just waited until now to make a big deal out of it. They will do it again if necessary, and then the next party in charge will make a big deal out of it. Same shyt different day.

you're dealing with a middle ages mentality here, you need middle ages methods.

I use to have a waterboad with tripple skegs on it, man you could really carve on those waves in Manhattan Beach by 14th street.

I'm glad you brought this up. There's only conservative talk shows on the radio here; and the past few weeks there's been an unending rant about "enhanced interrogation." At the same time they talk about "American Exceptionalism." This is the height of hipocracy. "American Exceptionalism" is the concept that we are to be considered above the rest of the world. It originally came about because we were the world's model for democracy and feedom. It was later applied in the context of our saving the world from the Nazis, the Communists, and so forth.

I happen to think America is quite exceptional. I've lived in the Third World, in theocracies, and visited Socialist countries. We are special. But we lost a great moral standing when we as a nation decide to, as a matter of policy, torture prisoners. Torture had happened before, but it was never condoned, was frequently punished, and certainly wasn't "legal."

Torture is wrong. It doesn't matter if a person is tortured once or a hundred times. It doesn't matter if it results in getting information. It doesn't matter if it is water-boarding, beatings, sexual humiliation, dogs, any of that. We're better than this. I was very pleased in the '08 campaign when McCain said we would never violate the Geneva Convention again.

Arguing over who knew what when is a petty, stupid distraction. It's like arguing over who knocked over the lantern as your house burns down around you. We all sat by and let it happened. Every one of us lost something when America decided to stoop to this level. I pity anyone who condoned or participated in torture, because I believe we will answer for every action we took or didn't take, in this life or after death.
