Default A Classic!

CHICAGO – A 14-year-old aspiring police officer donned a uniform, walked into a Chicago police station and managed to get an assignment — patroling in a squad car for five hours before he was detected, police said Sunday.
The boy did not have a gun, never issued any tickets and didn't drive the squad car, Deputy Superintendent Daniel Dugan said.

The reason they fired the kid is that he actually patrolled his area and they didn't find him asleep behind some warehouse or hanging out at the Dunkin'! Even Chicago PO-lice have standards!

There's a similar fraud going on in the White House right now, but it hasn't been detected yet.

Oh, it's been detected. They're just keeping it under their hats.

Are you supporting the "Obama was actually born in Africa" theory or the "swearing in wasn't done correctly the first time in public and wasn't done with a Bible the second time" theory? Or both?

Speaking of Obama, did you hear or read about his speech today? I really liked what he said about energy independence and creating an "energy economy." I also liked what he said about not propping up foreign enemies by buying their oil. We should have done this in the 1970's, but better late than never.

"I really liked what he said about energy independence...."

You might like what he 'said', but you will hate the reality of it, even though we will never see anything other than words. If you want to test out the reality, try doing without oil for about a week. Suddenly propping up our 'enemies' will make sense.

Yes indeedy it would be hard to go without oil. What would people do without plastic?! We'd be stuck with glass beer bottles again damnit!

Keep in mind we only import 20% of our oil; that's hardly a huge nut to crack by replacing it with domestically produced alternative sources. Florida has a bunch of power plants that burn oil...how hard would it be to replace them with a nuke plant if we chose to? Or a clean coal plant?

To Smoke's point, yeah brother, I've said on these pages many times burning oil for fuel is an incredible waste. We need it for everything from fertilizer for food to shingles for roofs. The list of petroleum based products is huge. Even more reason to find another source for energy.

BTW: I think some people equate reducing oil consumption with diminished lifestyles and/or wealth. I don't; quite the opposite. I think that other energy sources could allow us to use and enjoy even more energy. I like motorcycles...if I had one that did everything my gas bike does with fuel cells, (or batteries, or flux capacitors, or whatever) it would be just as fun.

You don't believe that do you? We import anywhere from 50 to 60% of our oil. I have read that it was as high as 66% recently. 20% is a pipe dream.

"BTW: I think some people equate reducing oil consumption with diminished lifestyles and/or wealth. I don't; quite the opposite."

Hollow words from somebody that uses oil just as much as everyone else. Talk is cheap.

Yeah, remember what 'The Annointed One' says. He's going to change the world in 24 hours. The people that had all the answers for everything are now telling us there is no quick fix for the economy. No shyt Sherlock. The economy will fix itself when it is ready, and the less 'The Annointed One' does the better.
