Is the "2 Stroke V-4 Yamaha" your new boat engine? If it's the HPDI, you done good. I had the 200 and it was the best outboard ever. I could run almost 200 miles on 80 gallons, more than enough to take my Grady-White to Nassau.

This is the 115hp 2 stroke V4. It's a 2004 model. I don't know what HPDI is.

Catalina is as far as I'll ever need to go and that's about 30 miles offshore.

No boats for me. I would have to buy the service manuals and stuff!

I gotta get all the gear for it and then drop it in a local lake to test all the pumps and such. Then you'll find me anchored to the kelp pulling up Calico bass and hopefully an occasional Yellowtail.

Probably should throw a new prop on too.
As someone with extensive experience around boats between 16' and 287' I should remind you of the basic truth of boat ownership.

The two happiest days of your life:
1- The day you buy your boat.
2- The day you sell it.

Yeah I know but couldn't help myself. You can get boats cheaply enough these days if you don't have to finance.

You'll sing a different tune when gas is back up to $3+. Add $2 at the marinas.

Actually, Buz, I hope it works out for you. But the west coast is really a pretty crappy area for boating. Be careful about going to Mexico. Well, actually... don't. Maybe you can teach your kid some amphibious assault training. Then turn him loose on 12er's house.

HPDI is High Pressure Direct Injection. Over 700 pounds of pressure blast the gas into the cylinders for maximum atomization and power! Yeah baby, yeah.

I haven't seen any fancy labeling like that on the motor. I'll have to pull the cover and see if there are good, old-fashioned carbs in there or not.

Gonna throw a nice new prop on it too.
