Rumor has it that his carbon/carbon brakes were not up to temp yet, so as he entered the corner and used extra lever pressure for the "cold" brakes, the brakes "came in" and suddenly the front locked up. It's a common problem with riders who are not used to the carbon/carbon setup.

If the brakes are the same as suzuki set-up they don't need to warm up that much. I read this in an article by Kevin Schwantz (spelling?). He wrote it after riding the RGV at Phillip Island.
