Good on Rossi for that one. I read somewhere that, in the 500 class, no one had previously won at Donnington who didn't start from one of the top 5 positions on the grid, so coming from 11th is quite a feat.

To answer the question: The only thing that could stop Rossi this year would be Rossi himself. Cliche, but true. He's won 5 of 8 races so far, and even in the other races, he was clearly the fastest man on the track.

People have been talking about Biaggi's post-race statements, but they're only surprising because of whose mouth they're coming from. Anybody who didn't realize that Rossi has been the fastest all year simply hasn't been paying attention.

Who could give Rossi trouble? Nobody right now, maybe Kenny Roberts on a Respol machine next year ( heavilly rumoured ), or perhaps that 250 rider with mad skillz Katoh when/if he makes the jump to 500s.

I scale Katoh as someone with equal skills as Rossi, but technically a tat better.

Those are entertaining thoughts, but will the GP riders of today really be the contenders next year?

Someone help me out here...from what I've heard, to be competitive you'll have to ride a 4-stroke. So, how many GP riders will simply fall off the pace with experienced guys like Haga leaving them for dead. Clearly Rossi has mad skills and an ability to adapt that will ensure his success on a 4 stroke, but will Biaggi and Roberts recover? Will we see Corser or Bayliss move to GP4 and dominate?
