"I'm not being politically correct"

OK, I'm going to get slammed for being a pedantic ****, and I won't argue. But it's a pet peeve, so it's worth the abuse.

"Politically correct" isn't just a synonym for "inoffensive". It means "conforming to orthodox left-wing thought." That's why the "political" part is in there. I forget who coined the phrase, but he was writing about the difficulty conservatives have in getting hired or securing tenure at colleges because of their "politically incorrect" views.

If you say, "Choppers are dumb", that is neither politically incorrect nor politically correct.

If you say, "Choppers are dumber than white-male Republican Christian Bush-voters," that is politically correct.

If you say, "Choppers are dumber than (insert racial minority group here)", that is politically incorrect.

(note that I'm not advocating any of those positions, just illustrating correct usage of the phrase.)

Flame away...

Well, actually, the story never mentioned speed. And the "performance" in the company's name could have the same meaning as in "performance art". Think of it as theater on wheels. It's "performance", not "high performance". From m-w.com, one of the definitions is "a public presentation or exhibition". That hits the nail on the head, if you ask me.

A deuce coupe hot rod probably won't outrun a new Mustang GT, either. This bike is just a "production" version of the hot rod. To the people who like this sort of thing, it's all about the look (and, to some {most?}, the looks received), and performance and usability be damned.

Different strokes for different folks.

so you're saying that the chopper is going to dance for us

while,

a high performance motorcycle does ballet...

now i get it.

just for the record, I wouldn't complain if the bike was in my garage

how can choppers be dumb if they are inherently non-thinking objects?

isn't it ironic that your pedantic post is full of bad grammar

grr...that is so not PC

If people buy it, ride it, and love it, why do we care? Two wheels is two wheels.... I think everybody knows that sportbikes overall out perform all motorcycles. However not everybody wishes to ride them. If they wish to ride a 35k chooper good for them.... they are at least riding.
