Re: News to Brighten KPaul's Day ;-)

I agree with you in principal (that AMA did a much better job than WSB) but the actual diversity is not all that different. Count the percentage of the AMA field on Suzukis and compare to the percentage of Ducatis in the WSB. I have not actually done this, but perhaps it is not as far off as you might think. Of course if you look at the top 10 fastest, you get, well, probably about the same thing also. OK, right now at Fontana we have Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and Duc in the top 10, while at Phillip Island, we had only 3 different makes -- Ducati, Suzuki, Proton.

Re: News to Brighten KPaul's Day ;-)

Damn, Matt is on a tear! 3/4 sec faster than Yates and almost 1-1/2 sec ahead of Ben! Wonder if this time is valid. There are some glitches with the transponders -- they showed some guy named Jensen having done a 23 sec lap! Fixed that now.

Holy sh!t, Pegram just grabbed third! 1-1/2 sec faster than Gobert on the other Duc!

Re: News to Brighten KPaul's Day ;-)

Now Gobert responded and took over a sec off his previous time to move to 4th, ahead of Ben! Damn, I wish I was there!

Re: News to Brighten KPaul's Day ;-)

Session is red flagged with about 10 minutes scheduled time.

Note that Ben Spies' 600 Supersport time this morning would be fast enough to have in in 12th currently in Superbike! Not bad for an obsolete POS!

As of this time, the top spots are SUZ, SUZ, DUC, DUC, HON, HON, KAW, so I guess KPaul has a good point about diversity in AMA.

Re: Japanese GP Qualifying Times

Kawasaki is in the race? Just pulling your chain a bit!

Who is your pick for the win? Per weather.com, 90% chance of rain tomorrow (so probably today's Q-times will stand for most) but 0% Sunday.

If it is dry, I'm picking Kato to win. If it is wet, it could be Ukawa or one of the other Japanese riders, or Sete, Rossi or Barros (in more or less that order of priority).

I predict that both Ducati and Aprilia will be in the top 10, wet or dry. The best Kawasaki will beat the WCM but not the best Proton. Oh yeah, if it is dry, Hopper beats his teammate Kenny what's his name)!

Re: News to Brighten KPaul's Day ;-)

Now Roberts and Duhamel have pulled it out and leapfrogged into 3 and 4. SUZ SUZ, HON HON, DUC DUC

Re: News to Brighten KPaul's Day ;-)

At almost the last moment, EBoz pulls our a fast lap to move to 4th (from something like 8-10th),

Mladin 1 25.123

Yates 1 25.928

Kurtis 1 26.146

EBoz 1 26.259

Pegram 1 26.308

Duhamel 1 26.408

GoShow 1 26.460

BBoz 1 26.496

Chandler 1 28.081

Higbee 1 28.738

One more session tomorrow morning. Damn, Mladin is effin fast!

Re: Japanese GP Qualifying Times

Okay, hiccup, if you read about this you'll see it was in intermittent rain, where tire choice makes far more difference than what bike you are on... if it dries out, you will see the Ducati go faster.

It also helps that Colin has raced at Suzuka 8 or 9 times vs. 0 for Bayliss...

Re: Where is Sean?

It looks like Sean is running around 18th (of 40), according to USSuperbike.com

I think he's #727.

Re: Japanese GP Qualifying Times

Found Sean. He's done 10 laps and is currently in 17th place. He's running with the odd-numbered plates. I guess when you factor in the next heat, he'd be somewhere around 34th.

C'mon, Sean!

PS: his plate number 727
