Default Racing a 230

Soon i'll be getting a WNY Racing membership and was just wondering if anybody raced a honda 230 before. And how you did with all the big guys. I dont wanna be the slowest out of them all. Let me know if ya think it'll do good. I'v been going to practice and been passing 250's and 450's though. Or ddo you think i shouldnt race at all?

As someone who worked on the modification and improvement of the 230 for another website, it is pretty much confirmed that the bike is, well, kind of slow. Some of the 250's you'll be racing against are full bore race bikes, not the bored-out SL100 motor the 230 seems to be fitted with.

Go to off-road.com and search for the mods Rick Sieman did on the 230, you'll be astounded at what was done to make the bike competitive in real world racing. That's me on the 230, testing out the new forks that came off a CR250. We were supposed to race it in the '07 Baja 500, but never made it.

I'd say go ahead and race it, but don't get discouraged if some 90 lb. 13 year old on a KX250F blows by you on the straight.

Good luck.

What are these 230's kicking out for hp, if your passing 450's and 250's I'd say either your exceptional fast or your competitors are exceptional slow.

The tighter the course, the better your bike will perform.

I was passed by two of these at the Alligator enduro a few years back. The course was so tight it wore me out, and I got stuck between trees.

yea The crf230f. idk what it has for power, but i just have a pipe and airfilter. Plus at this practice track i go to im in the beginner class. so not everybody are "racers". That could be a reason why i do pass some people.

Oh, ok great your out riding em. Awesome you should follow what (you) want as far as persuing racing. Find out what class your bike is eligible for and then see what most racers are using in that specific class. Good luck Honda48!
