Default Danny "Magoo" Chandler

Danny Chandler needs our help. After suffering a broken neck at the Paris Supercross in 1985, Danny has been a champion for rider safety, and uses his disability to lecture young riders on the importance of safe riding, and the use of proper riding gear. A quote from his website;

"Spurred on by support from friends and his newfound faith, Chandler worked his way back to being a man of action. He began to promote mountain-bike races and got involved with DARE, a drug-awareness program geared towards school children. Chandler also started coordinating children’s hospital visits by top motorcycle racers through his International Riders Helping People organization. Through his organization, Chandler hopes to generate interest in the sport of motorcycle racing with kids, and also to remind them of the importance of always wearing the proper riding or racing gear if they participate in the sport."

Now Magoo's van has worn out, and he hasn't got the funds to purchase a new vehicle to get around in. Handicapped equipped vehicles cost mucho bucks, you can take that from someone who knows from experience.

So open up your hearts and wallets to help out one of the great riders of our time, whose championship run was cut short by tragedy. In 1982 Danny was the only rider to win back-to-back wins at the MX Des Nations in the two fifty and five hundred classes, along with kicking Steve Wise's ass in the Superbike competition, again in 1982.

A true champion, here's how Danny looks at his situation now, strong stuff;

“In the long run the accident has left me a richer and fuller person,” Chandler says positively. “Had it not been for that I would just be another guy walking around. Now I have an interesting and compelling story to tell to the kids."

Done. Thanks for pointing it out. Wow, it amazes me that people in situations like that are so willing to step up and help others. Gives ya faith in humanity and all that stuff.

You guys are great, it shows the brotherhood of real motorcyclists. We've all been thrashed, and with luck some of us get up and can ride again. For those who can't we look after, and help any way we can. I'm sure Danny is humbled by all the attention. A real champion, like you guys.
