Every day (in the summer at least) should be ride to work day.

Time for all the "fringe elements" to come out of the woodwork.

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

It's always funny to see all the bikes with ammo can or milk crate luggage, or all the riders with old military surplus jackets.

13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21.......

.......Which is closely followed by the;

"13th annual why are ER's up and down the country full of injured bikers on Tue 7/22 day?"

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

I already ride to work at least 3 days a week for most of the year. I think we should have a "Ride Your Shovelhead To Work Day". Easy day off for most, because you'll never make it that far without breaking down.

Dude, that's totally negative. I'm not saying it's wrong, just negative.

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

Maybe I'll buck the trend, dust of the car, and drive to work. Just to prove to my fellow employees that I have a car.

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21.......

It's black humour.

P.S. I ride to work 3 days a week.

The annual "bring your bailing wire/60 wt./vice grips" to work day?

And an extra Tillotston, for when the stock one falls off on the freeway, and gets run over by an 18 wheeler.

Well we know it won't be a Dodge Dakota. VWW

ewok1 07-14-2004 12:23 PM

does hallmark have a card for the occasion?

it could say, "if you need a special day to get your lazy butt on the bike gathering dust behind the lawnmower, sell the damn thing."

Right on, Cap'n. The sh*t weather we're having in the Northeast this week is killing me. I haven't driven a car to work more than two days in a row this summer...until now.

Riding makes going to work a hell of a lot more appealing. Now, if I could just figure out how to avoid actually arriving at work...

captainwhoopass 07-14-2004 12:47 PM

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

For the full effect, you should ride a Rokon Trailbreaker with the wheels fully inflated to cross streams.

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21.......

I work in a hospital, and every monday we have collected 3-4 weekend warrior bikers who wiped out on their ride. Ride to work everyday if possible! it makes you a better rider and you have already had your dose of adrenalin so you don't act like an idiot on sunday

I'm gonna have to run down some of KPaul's elderly relatives and see if they have any loose change in their pockets.

I work from home, but I've been looking for an excuse to ride the bike through the living room. Works for me!

I would go with half rum and half coke- that way you can mix them on your way to work.

There isn't the slightest chance that you get any of this, is there?

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

I'm lucky to be riding just about every day. Here on the Gulf Coast we are in a drought, so it's two wheels, yee-hah! But lately we have been in the Dog Days of Summer, and it has been Stupid Hot!

Does anyone know how to fix the a/c on a Triumph Sprint ST? Mine doesn't put out any cool air when I sit at one of the interminable freakin' traffic lights. Think it needs Freon?

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

Does g-bear stand for Golden Bear? As in Cal Golden Bears?

Chango 07-14-2004 09:01 PM

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

Nah. It doesn't need freon. You might have a vacuum leak in it though. The easiest thing to do when the a/c starts to poop out is just run the light. That way you can keep the revs high enough for the compressor to do some compressing. Or maybe I've got my vacuum leaks and my missing freon backwards... Either way, just keep those revs up while it's under load - revving in neutral won't work for some reason - and you should be able to forget all your a/c problems. Or something.

Please forgive me!

Re: 13th Annual Worldwide Ride To Work Day Wed 7/21

Actually, the Super Eagle was pretty fast. Top end was about 55, and with those 8 in. wheels, rigid frame, and crabbed-in forks, you could really eat it big.

It had 10.1 compression, a bigger lawnmower Tillotson, big cam, and can be identified by the compression release built into the head.

Cushman was a division of Outboard Marine Corp (OMC), and incorporated many marine touches to the power plant. A tapered roller bearing crankshaft, pressurized con rod bearing, and piston cooler (oil pump sprayed a jet of oil on the wrist-pin, & underside of piston, at TDC) were standard items.

The Elvis outfit was an option.

Re: I hate to admit it..........

Well, thank God Volvo doesn't make a mini-van (yet). That double-violation of all things sacred, would have condemned you to some sort of motorcycle purgatory, where they all ride Allstate Twingles.

Re: "National Trailer Your Bike To Work Day"

Everyday is ride to work day for me.

I guess for the Rubbies we can call it "Drive To Work With A Harley Sticker On Your Truck Day" or "Drive To Work Dressed Up Like A Biker Day"
