The U.S. may get fewer choices but the bikes cost less and gas is cheap. I can live with it.

Hey, if you need a European correspondent, I volunteer. My salary demands are modest. You just have to move me from the soggy American city I live in to somewhere near the Pyranees.

Sound like a deal?

Heh... That's true, that's true! What's gas going for in Her Majesty's realm now? The equivalent of $3? $4?

I'll ride to Texas! Only using first gear! With lots of sudden stops and starts! It's still cheap! It's cheaper than milk! Fill up the trunk Ma, from now on the cat drinks unleaded!

Default Err ... sorry!

Actually we get the new VFR in four colours: Force Silver Metallic, Black, Lapis Blue Metallic and Italian Red.

But donzi is right - we do pay more for both our bikes and our fuel.

Default Re: :) Summary

fair comment bat really. the headline might suggest the VFR is a clearer winner. but it is the winner in our opinion nevertheless.

i suppose we could have included both triumphs in the test to give a broader scope, as we could have included ducati st2, st4 etc.

this test isn't meant to be THE definitive sports tourer test - it's supposed to give an idea of how the latest all-new VFR stacks up against it closest rivals. it's just another bit of info for potential buyers to use in their decision-making process, like everything else we do.

Maybe we'll do a bigger test later in the year...

btw, there is an more in-depth version in print this week. we're still experimenting with the optimum lenght of test to put on the web...

dunno, ask honda!

seriously - we don't make this stuff up. all our new bike stories are based on info from (usually) reliable contacts.

we often find out about bikes that never make production.

In the last 10 years I'm only aware of one occasion where we've been spoofed, eg fed deliberatley false information

Err... it's about 75 pence a litre round here at the moment. Covert that to greenbacks per litre, and then into US gallons, and I think you might find it's rather more than your best guess... Why, how much is it round your way?

Default Gas Prices

Err...about $1.21/gallon for the cheap stuff $1.41 for the good stuff in Tucson, AZ

Conversion according to xe.com

0.85p-0.99p per gallon

So that means about oh...22p-26p/liter. Yikes. It frankly makes me sick how little we pay for gas considering all the issues. People all over the MO boards complain about how Europe gets the great bikes first. Well, high gas prices mean more people riding bikes meaning bigger market for manufacturers meaning...

Europe gets all the bikes first

And more of 'em
