Default Re: Maxim Magazine Helmet Question

I agree that the government shouldn't require us to wear helmets ... How else are we gonna see who all the Idiots are ...

After 8 years as a Paramedic, I tally the score:

full helmet wearers 10 out of 14 lived ...

half helmet wearers 8 out of 15 lived ...

non helmet wearers 7 out of 20 lived ...

this is just on my shift from my own records.

Granted, the 10 of 14 were still pretty messed up ... but you should have seen the 13 of that 20 ... yuk !!! and the 7 that lived ... they aren't dating any of the models in Maxim ... for sure ...

I was just thinking, the higher death rate of the non helmet wearer bunch may me attributed to them being dumb asses to begin with ... may be they put themselves into some dumb situations that caused the crash ... which i have this little story to share ...

ever seen a guy look to the side and loose his sunglasses and then try to catch them as they are falling off his head and then as he is falling on the street in front of the car he was checking out you really get a good look at how big his eye sockets get!!!

Hey Minime

...

First just a note to say I just registered due to the fact that this is the first thing I read on the site that made me want to do so, so I wouldn't be anon ...

Second is this snide remark ... YOU READ MAXIM ?!!! I just look at the pictures ... ;o)

Third is another remark you can take with a grain of salt ... I heard that a survey in V-Twin Magizine said that people prefer LOUD PIPES.

.................................................

Not that the subscriber base has anything to do with it ... right !!! ) I'm glad this reader base isn't as biased ... or is it?

.................................................

Ok so now the real reason I came out the closet sorta speak ... There IS no magazine called V-Twin? ... well just imagine there is? Imagine that there are several different shades of grey.

Imagine there are more people that think there are times when it is just A OK to putt about with no helmet on ... like me. I suppose I have talked to too many bystanders that report that car just pulled right in front of that biker ... man, that bike had no where to go but to skid right into that car ... and yet I putted about with my cheap 5 dollar sunglasses for protection

HEY MAN ... PEOPLE GET KILLED IN ACCIDENTS WHERE BOTH ARE IN CARS !!!

But YOUR motorcycle can turn a 90 degree angle quicker than you can say ****!!! ... right? ... Yeah, I've had one of those bikes since I was 15 ...

But this True story as told by someone I just revived in the middle of the street, leads me to radically change my mind ...

I was riding to the corner store ... 3 blocks away from my house ... I remember a little girl running from behind a truck parked on the side of the road ... Did I hit her? I told him Yep, she's in the unit behind us ... He looks at me for about 5 seconds with a blank look on his face then says, Is she bluurt blad? ... sis she wort wad? His eyes stayed open the whole time I was taking his vital signs ... which were normal ... respirations normal ... BP nomal ... Eyes fixed, dialated ... YEP ... was he now brain dead ... maybe ... but he sure was 30 mins later at the Hospital ... YEP! Hey, he had a bruise on his knee that was a little swollen and one on the left side of his chest ... big knot on the right side of his skull too ... he would have made a great organ donor ... I did tell you I am a paramedic right? Oh, did I tell you that the girl's mom said she yelled at her daughter to watch out for the motorcycle coming down the street? Did I tell you that the lady said her daughter just froze in the middle of the street ... and how the handle bar hit her in the shoulder and how the biker guy jumped right up after he and his bike hit the ground to go help her daughter ... how the guy yelled for someone to call 911 ... then collapsed in the middle of the street ... how she said she was thanking GOD that her daughter or that biker guy didn't get killed ...

did I tell you:

how suprised that lady was when she found out that the guy on the bike died ...

how she said, but he was going so slow ... how did he die? ...

how she said if he had a helmet on he probably would have gotten out of the ER faster than her daughter who suffered a BIG bruise on her shoulder and some scratches on her leg.

Did I tell you about the time ... I wore my helmet and someone threw a coke can full of dirt from the overpass and it hit me right on top of my helmet !!! I was doing about 45mph ... boy did that scare the crap out of me ... sure glad I was wearing my helmet then !

Did I tell you about the time this guy put a bullet in his revolver and spun the cylinder, put it up to his head and pulled the trigger and it went ... ... ... clik ... lucky guy ... ... huh? ... very ... cause the bullet was chambered but the primer was bad, just the dent ... I told you this was in the ER at Charity Hospital in New Orlenas right ...? Remember when the space shuttle Columbia blew up !!! Weird **** happens eh!?

Wear the freaking helmet !!!

Default I would NEVER do it with a porn star - here's why

Ever been with a girl who's so hot and horny that the moment you stick it to her she screams in ecstasy?. that's when you know you're getting it good. the girl is fresh, young(hopefully) and horny. With a porn star, she not only gets it 5 times a day, but is so desensitized that you'd have to shove a stick of dynamite up her twot and light it for her to feel anything. Don't get me wrong, they're nice to look at - but i'll stick to porking young girl-next-door types, thanks

Default Re: wasting time ... not if it saves one person !

Yes, the figures are from my little notebook I kept over the last 8 years from all Code 3 calls in the New Orleans Area that I have personally been on scene relating to traffic accidents and motorbikes. (Code 3 means all sirens and lights and pretty much disregard traffic signals and speed limits, ... or rather dead guy at scene come save him/her NOW) There is no media hype from my personal experience ... and for years I didn't wear a helmet either ... I knew most of the deputies and could get away with it until the law was repealled.

Helmet or not they are F'd up bad already I mean really F'd up bad ... and the helmet wearers seem to have faired better ... no proof mind you .. just my own observations and statistics.

I don't even count the time where a guy let his bike fall in his garage. The bike spanked him on the ground and he hit his head on the wall and broke his nose ... ya don't seem to hear about the times when the guy with the helmet came away unscaved ... because he had that helmet on ... You know how it is ya don't here about the good service but you definitely hear about the bad.

There Is a lot of drinking in New Orleans and a dumb drunk with a helmet seems to outlive a dumb drunk without one in my book.

I don't mean to offend you, but I do think it is dumb to ride without one. Perhaps I value my life a little more, or if you like to look at it another way, I'm more of a worrier than you are ... our values maybe different ... hell maybe I just live in an area were the people drive more like maniacs there were you live and are used to. Maybe I should have qualified my statement by saying ... anyone who lives in New Orleans and doesn't wear their helmet is a dumbass. I'm glad I live here in the USA where that's allowed. But one thing I know ... Helmets save lives. And that's something I know as a personal fact.

Also I've never experienced a car wreck from birth not when i was a kid or since I could drive ... but I buckle up evertime I sit my ass in a car.

I ride because I feel the enjoyment outweighs the risks, but why not mitigate the risks by assuming you will crash everytime you ride? I usually don't, but I often do. (4 times this year, in fact! And I was unhurt every time, because I prepare for it.)

If you think just living by an airport or hanging out with fat people is as dangerous as riding a motorcycle, you need to stop dropping so much LSD.

The sportriders I know are ATHLETES, with lots of physical endurance and upper body strength. As far as posers go, some are fat, some thin, some muscular.
