Default Re: Well said. Red light cameras save lives

I read somewhere that, typically when a redlight camera is installed; the yellow energization-period is shortened by a half-second or more. Hence, more redlight-runners, more revenue.

Redlight-camera yellows of less than 2-seconds oft make a "criminal" out of someone who entered an Intersection on a green, and never even SEE the yellow light.

One consumer-group advocates a 2-1/2 to 3-second yellow. When this timing is implemented, redlight-runners become virtually nonexistent at that intersection.

If only we had known how bad France would come to suck, we wouldn't've bothered to rescue them from the Red Menace.

And if we'd known that letting the Domino Theory go about its bizness would've resulted in Vietnam being a great trading partner 30 years later, we would've missed that excellent time also. Who knew? O yeah, thee left-wing liberals of the time...

It only sucks to be the adult if you're a paranoid control freak.

Fact is, in many sectors there is actually a labor shortage. HR analysts have been predicting a crisis in coming years. Actually, it's already started. Manufacturing is hurting, but if people are willing to acquire the skills (and most can) and go where the work is, there are lots of jobs. My guess is that most of the capable people in the military could find work in the civilian world.

46 million Americans have no health insurance. If you don't get it from your employer you are screwed Also screwed are employers who have to compete against foreign competitors who don't have to pay for their employees health care.

The fact that the monumentally flawed concept of communism would eat itself eventually was all but inevitable. But let's not forget that the policy of checking it both economically and militarily probably accelerated its current ongoing and rapid deterioration by decades.

Remember how SDI was completely and totally ridiculed in the West? Well, the Soviets were scared sh*itless about it because they thought if anyone could pull it off, we could. That alone might have shortened the Cold War by ten years.

Default France in Vietnam

Let us also not forget that we entered Vietnam in large part because the French basically screwed it up.

Before Ho was a dyed-in-the-wool commie, he admired the U.S. Unfortunately, we chose to back Frenchie as they were running away from the mess they made.

Yeah, these things are just great.

I just got one of these lovely tickets in the mail. The picture shows me making a right on red (which is legal in my county). Problem is, the intersection where they placed the camera is just barely inside the NYC line, where right on red is illegal. There wasn't another car anywhere near the intersection. I am truly a menace to public safety. It's the first ticket I've gotten in eight years.

Of course, the letter was from those noble safety watchdogs, The New York City Department of Finance.
