WTF, over? Ok, so they are changing the name of the company. I wonder if they will change the name of the bikes?

Probably won't affect anything at Hyosung except the management in the short term.

Really. What are you going to name your bass drum, Hortense? "Hello. Have you met my xylophone? I named her Rachel."

S&T Motors, (formerly Hyosung Motors and Machinery, Inc.) announces a world-wide contest to help them name their new company! Contestants are invited to submit their ideas for what the "S" and "T" in "S&T Motors Co. Ltd." will stand for.

The winning entry will be selected from submissions posted on Motorcycle.com; the world's leading motorcycle related website. A panel of S&T executives will select the name that they feel best conveys the excitement, design philosophy, and quality of their motorcycle product line.

The Grand Prize for the winning entry will be a 24 Month Extended Maintenance Plan for any of S&T's products. Contest ends May 15th, 2007. Employees of S&T, their relatives, friends, neighbors, and anybody who ever heard of S&T prior to this contest are not eligible to enter.

When Nishiki bicycles were first imported into the US (from Japan), they were called "American Eagle". To appeal to us "buy American" patriots. I still have one in my garage, and it was good enough that they finally called them by their real name.

But I never learned why Nissan was originally Datsun.

Nissan was originally Nissan. They used the Datsun name when they first came to the US in case their cars laid an egg - they didn't want to sully the Nissan name. When the cars earned a good reputation, the Datsun name got scrapped.

They should re-name Hyosung "Apple Pie Elvis Freedom John Wayne Motorcycles."
