It might; Royal Dutch Shell just patented a new technology for extracting shale oil, which puts the USA as the largest oil source in the world if it works like they're lying it will.

Did Keith Code two weeks ago, and it was great. Interested to hear how Schwantz is.

Then a cop didn't see you. With no plate and them seeing it, you would have been over on the side of the road. Hell, I got stopped plenty for having my registration sticker expire, which means they look much closer than just the plate.

Default It's often the older ones...

SO TRUE. From the article:

But preliminary figures of motorcycling deaths in Florida's largest urban areas last year show that sport bikers account for a little more than half of the fatalities. The other half come from the growing number of aging "renaissance riders" who take to the road on their cruisers, often without proper training.

Me- I was out riding this last weekend in the mountains (fatal crash cut my ride short, actually) and saw just this: And older couple riding on less than a year old cruisers (A Suzuki M50 and a Star something), and I got in behind them. They did the left hand sweeper ok, but when we came to the right they fell apart. the lady ground the footpeg, paniced, and instead of leaning into it more to make the turn (and ignoring the peg dragging), she straightened up and tried to turn like someone without training would.

What happened? She ended up in the middle of the road on the double yellow, riding on gravel and Mag-cloride residue (that's the WORST part of our mountain roads), unable to turn, unable to stop, and barely in control. I hit my brakes hard (to avoid going inside her as my line would have taken me), and pulled back, and she eventually got it into place. She entered the turn on the wrong line, didn't lean right, didn't respond right, and obviously had ZERO training about how to ride, and she scared ME.

these people NEED to take the MSF course. They NEED to know how to ride, because the skills you used 40 years ago as a teen on your Huffy don't cut it up here anymore. Someone got killed that day... a husband and a father, when he lost control. They could have EASILY been the next ones, crossing the line on blind corners like that.

Ride safe, ya'll. Get trained if you're not.

Hey, no problem. The article is worth having it's own post. This is the largest paper in Central Florida, with a circulation of millions. And regardless of the body of the article, to look at the banner headline and the photos (dead riders, wrecked bikes) it's inflammatory and anti-bike. We need our industry and press to start taking a proactive approach to this surge of anti-bike hysteria. Somebody with the resources should analyze the three top m/c states, CA, TX, and FL, and compare fatalities as a percentage of registrations. And then, when the statistics show fatalities are down, as they will, start promoting that fact at every opportunity.
