As you can see from my bike ADD, I only buy one to ride around and check out others. Every 10k is three bikes.

Default The problem with Craigslist

And any other free ad paper for that matter, is that they are FREE to the advertiser! The seller loses nothing if it doesn't sell.

I find better deals in the local paper, where people have to pay for the priveledge of advertising.

Hello, sellers ask more than they expect to settle for! just negotiate, but be prepared to be told to shove it when you offer KBB. I change bikes every year and always sell the old one myself and only if the bike is a total mutt (like my old TL1000!) would I consider taking KBB value.

I agree, KBB and NADA are pure bull as price guides. They list much lower than what most bikes go for.

Cycle Trader, eBay, and MC Clubs & Group lists with classifieds are better indicators of bike values. What bikes are worth are what people are willing to pay for them not what some book says.

Some areas have free internet ads now. Here in Salt Lake the TV station, KSL, has a website where you can place free ads. I've bought a couple bikes off of it.

The added bonus is that this website is bankrupting the Newspaper Agency Corporation with it's monopoly on all newpaper advertising.

Ture. But the Banks and Credit Unions will only loan money based on the NADA value. This tends to pull the prices towards that value.

You forgot that insurance usually pays up by the KBB, so if you overpay and total it, you get stuck big time.

I guess the only real solution is to quit riding motorcycles at all. Actually, that's a good idea since those danged things are so dangerous.
