Pete I posted this before I logged in. I agree awesome is not the right word. I guess it is the first police chase I have seen with this surprise ending.

Despite lane-splitting and passing on the shoulder, he still doesn't seem to get much distance on the Volvo police cruiser until the Volvo crashes at the intersection.

If you stopped the tape a few seconds earlier, it could be a ad for Volvo.

I've seen this before on other forums, and was told that it was Ghostrider. Anyone confirm?

It's almost as if the rider slows in areas to let the car catch up.

Does anybody recognize what brand/model the guy is riding? I love the exhaust noise it makes.

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

This dude is Sweden's infamous Ghost Rider.

One of my kids gave me some of his full length videos. This clip was greatly shortened. The full length clip is about 20 minutes long.

At one time he had a web site, but I've been unable to locate it.

I did find some more of his videos on the net for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

GSXR1000.

His new bike is a gsxr with a turbo.

This isn't the GR site that I remember, but I found one......

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

is it me, or does the guy seem to be dogging it a little, letting the cruiser stay with him? not sure the copper ever got close enough to get the plate number.

ghost rider, indeed.

bmwdude 12-06-2006 07:41 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

He absolutely lets them stay with him!

In GR4 he has several chasing him at the same time, doing this.

The clip referenced here, started off in a shopping center parking lot where he passed a cop on the wrong side and goes the wrong way around a traffic rotary. Then the chase was on.

As much fun as it was to watch, I shudder at the thought of on of my kids trying this stuff!

bmwdude 12-06-2006 07:44 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

BTW, re: your plate number comment.

In pictures I've seen, the plate simply says "Ghost Rider" on it.

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

If you look at the tach you see that it never goes into the upper ranges. Even on the straights the tach never seems to get to even 10K RPM. It's weird, as if the guy was either not able to go faster (for whatever reason) or he was jusst toying with the cops. It appears to be in Sweden - road signs and volvo wagin car.

THis is definitely not ghostrider becasue ghostrider goes WAAAAAAY faster in his videos.

sarnali2 12-06-2006 07:59 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

It's in Holland and yes, I'm quite sure he's playing with the Police. A GSXR wouldn't have much trouble getting away from a Volvo wagon would it?

smathai 12-06-2006 08:02 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

It's ghostrider. I had seen several "preview" clips from his website trailers, and on one of them there's one second of a volvo cop swerving to avoid oncoming traffic. I had always wondered how the cop got there, now I know.

Ghostrider definitely lets cops keep pace with him at times. If he's not letting cops chase him, then it's the full on speed stuff. You ought to check out a "hilarious" one where he actually hunts for a cop, wheelies past him, then it seems like he'll pull over for the cop... then blasts off in a continuous 100 mph wheelie down the highway.

Tigercub 12-06-2006 08:08 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

I'd suggest finding more of the videos this guy has already made 'cause my guess is he won't be making too many more like this one.

BTW - I think this is a good example of why a country can justify attacking useless, defenseless countries in order to keep our restless youth occupied, since so many around the world obviously have nothing useful to do with their time - IMHO.

crevans 12-06-2006 08:24 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

Yup. It's Ghostrider. From the 3rd movie I think. That's only a small portion of the chase. He's intentionally playing with the cop, letting him get close, then speeding away for about 15 minutes.

The_AirHawk 12-06-2006 08:25 AM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

Hey! - not all those countries being attacked are useless!

Some have oil buried beneath their sands, some diamonds, some merely are cheap sources of slave-labour.......

ksquid 12-06-2006 08:54 AM

In the U.S. ghostrider would probably meet a different fate

I guess from the other posts that this guy is the famous ghostrider and he doesn't pull this stuff in the the U.S.A . I need to get out more, cause this is wild. Of course, here in the land of the free and home of the brave, I suspect the chase would have involved more cop cars a helicopter etc. This ghostrider would be serving time as Bubba girl in county jail near you. Cops here would use the Powell doctrine, i.e. overwhelming force to take down ghostrider.

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

Does he come from a country where they measure your weight in stones? This boy has great big ones.

At the end where the cop is just about T-boned by an on-coming car, well, as they say, it's all fun and games until...fascinating to watch but I'd track him down like the dog he is if one of my loved ones was the one T-boning a cop car.

The best have to be his timed runs though. Check google video for "Ghost Rider Uppsala Run" first and second (may be in youtube as well). Also, check out his "Stockholm run" and the really cool "Ghost rider plays cat and mouse".

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

So this guy equips his bike with both a front- and rear-looking camera then goes out and baits police into chasing him ?

I guess he doesn't have chase helicopters and cops with spike strips in his neighborhood.

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

I guess in Sweden, they don't spend money on such things. The Swedish cops probably spend time on tracking down murderers, rapists, thieves, etc. Little things like that. Someone was saying that U.S. cops have lowest rate of catching murders in the world but that can't be right. I would think that would be Mexico, Columbia etc.. Also I think a lot of drugs are legal in Sweden but I might be confused with the Netherlands or Denmark.

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

Based on what? Metro areas in most of America have population rates much higher than some countries in Europe. More people- more crime. More crime means lower percentages in convictions because trail lawyers master the art of stalling trail start dated. Thus, allowing thugs the ability to get back on the streets and do harm to the public (once again) before the original crime is prosecuted.

Your population assertions are false; metro areas in the US and Europe are very similar in size. In fact, New York City area aside, Europe wins the contest. Not sure what this says about American cops, since ksquid\'s assertions have no data behind them, I\'m speaking purely about population density.

not so sure about that. many of his chases were aboard a 250 hp \'Busa

Gluge 12-06-2006 12:55 PM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

I would blame the cop not the rider... it\'s the vehicle causing the accident.

Many places in the US have do not pursue polices for this very reason.

squidwardo 12-06-2006 02:46 PM

Re: Bike Chase Video. All Manner of Illegal Riding.

He had to be playing with the police, because even when he had some open space to wind the bike out, he did not. Just toying with them, is my guess.

At first I figured his bike was a motard, because it did not sound like an inline 4 to me. Any clue as to what this guy rides?

Where are the cops in Holland? It seemed as if the video was edited, and someone else said the full version is about 20 minutes. That is a very long time for only one police car to be involved. As was hinted to before, here in my town a chase that last more than a few minutes will have the Sheriff\'s helicopter involved and at least three or four patrol cars.

O.K., I\'m a moron. Definately not a twin or single. Just a nice sounding exhaust? I could not tell by the tach what it was though. Something Italian? MV?

Take it from me, there\'s nothing like incarceration to sate one\'s appetite for high speed evasion.
