That is an awesome story! Can't wait for the bike vs. UFO competition. Would that be in a motorcycle or astrophysics magazine?????

Let's do a Bike vs. Bike next. Say, ...um a Street Rod and Suzuki's M109.

Haven't any of the other MO subscribers read of Airman Shaw (assumed name of T.E. Lawrence) and his story of the race between his Brough Superior and a fighter plane, in the early 20's? It has been reprinted numerous times, most recently in "Cycle World". Maybe the MO editorial staff could dig it up and print it here. Yes, I know there wouldn't be the usual color pictures..

Yes, the Brough won that race, too.

The Brough had no rear suspension, as was almost universal practice at the time, though it had some special girder fork arrangement at the front. Lawrence wrote that if he hit a bump in the road, it would "shake its head like a spirited horse", a habit of which he obviously approved.

The only remaining question is which is faster, a motorcycle or an unladen swallow.

I've heard of an ME109. They came as ME109e, ME109f, ME109g, and some previous models. The cannon in the nose worked real well. Maybe the M109 is sort of like it.

I'd put my money on the bike. Unless of course the competition was Paris Hilton...she'd probably lay and swallow faster.
