Rossi was a major crasher in his early days. Especially on his first 125 ride. Look for him to improve!

Schumacher went off too, so this means absolutely nothing.

As I recall, Mick Doohan did the same thing trying out an F1 car a few years ago.

Who cares can't the guy go do what he wants in the off season wthout being judged for it. I think it's great Ferrari recognized his accomplishments in racing and had him come out.

Yeah. I agree with what everyone else said.

Cut the guy some slack. I mean, it's not like he's ever raced there before. Geez! And besides, compared to his regular ride, this car has a similar power-to-weight proportion, and only three to five times the contact patch area, so how could he reasonably be expected to control it. And of course, he was crashy when he rode 125s, so why are all you nay-sayers demanding that he somehow know more about at-the-limit piloting just cuz he's been doing it for ten years. You people are impossible!

Seriously, Ferrari wants him for the same reason Yamaha sold its grandma into prostitution to get him: in addition to being a great racer, he is also quietly one of the most gifted development riders ever. EVER. He is possibly the perfect liason between engineer and machine, and further, he can differenciate between what the vehicle needs to be better, and what things he personally wants for his own ride and piloting. Personally, I think he's aiming at Shoomy's record, even at this early date. He wants to be in the history books, and he will, or die trying.

Funny how the news release only stated facts without any editorial comment (unless you count ! as a comment). Yet all responses jumped to Rossi's defense.

Does anybody really thinks he needs your help to prove anything?

M. Schumacher also spun the car his FIRST lap in his test of the new car. The new car (V8 powered) has LESS horsepower than the car Rossi is testing. I guess Schumacher sucks too, huh?
