I am suprised. I went through Grants Pass a year ago, stayed overnight there with 5 other guys on sport bikes, and rode on to crater lake and came back through. We got zero hassles from the fuzz and had a great time. Then again we were not doing anything to attract attention, and didnt speed until we were out in the boonies.

Wow, just like the bad old days. in the early '80's I got ticketed repeatedly on my chopped Shovelhead for

1) Tail light to low..... It was at the legal limit of 24 inches.

2) Handlebars too high from seat base.... They were stock Sporty Buckhorns and well below the limit.

3) Innoperative mufflers...... They were off a '68 Shovelhead police bike.

4) No front fender.....non required in Washington.

5) No turn signals......bike was registered off the frame, making it a '57 which didn't come with turn signals, so none were required.

6) Had repeated P.D. follow-me-home and sit in front of my house kinda' crap.

This was all by the same two cops in Auburn, one of whom is now the chief of Police, and required me to take time off work, subpena the State Patrol Inspector and generally waste mine and everyone elses time dealing with these assholes Kojak fantasy's. I finally had to fill out a complaint for harrasment to the A.G to get them to leave me alone.

Nice to see the spirit is alive and well in Grant's Pass.

If the AMA really wants to do something to impress me they could hire lawyers to help these folks out. That might convince me that they are worth a membership.

And , so , what? I should be concerned that the police wrote them tickets for whatever it is they were doing wrong or was wrong with their bikes.

Why is this news? Help me out here?

OK I will. If the police had a helicopter and observation trailer parked across the street from your home, followed you everywhere you went, then finally tagged you for having your front wheel touching the white line in front of the crosswalk at an intersection I'll bet you'd be ready to run right out and make a donation to the local FOP benevolent fund, eh?
