Disgusting. I don't know about all the wider issues here but I do no that it seems that car drivers kill and maim us with near impunity. I suppose it is the chance we all take but when some one like this guy or that jerk from SD do what they do; they need to be held accountable for the damages. In this case the punishment does not fit the crime IMO.

"Dearing, a law student, also admitted driving with faulty brakes and steering, and to driving illegally with a provisional licence, which he obtained following a previous disqualification."
This guy will make a perfect attorney. I'm surprised they haven't already waived the bar exam for him!

The driver was a law student and admitted he had a poor attitude towards licensing and insurance, aka he had a poor attitude for the law and obviously since he admitted to driving off while hearing the victim screaming he has no empathy for victims.
Sounds like he will make a great defense attorney for rapists, murderers, child molesters and the lot. I can't believe he only got a $579 (US dollar equiv) fine and 2 months jail when he had a long history of careless illegal driving and knowingly left a amputated man screaming on the pavement after hitting him. I think my own foot is worth more than that (He actually had to have his leg amputated), I think I would give serious thought to a little vigilante justice with Mr. Machete! |

Tell you what, if I were that poor bastard who lost his foot, I'd hobble on over to Mr. Dearing's house and beat him to death with my crutch.
Maybe this is why they got rid of guns in the UK.

Or you could tie him to a post with his foot to the back of a truck and drive off. Ooh, that would work for me.

You know, I was on the freeway again this morning (in heavy fog) and some nitwit in a black 740il blows by me on the inside, doing a good 30-40 more mph.
And I was going 75. It's only a matter of time. Freeway driving anymore is like flying. 99% boredom with 1% percent panic. The streets around here are no better. Picture if you will, Cochalabamba at rush hour. Or Calcutta. But losing a foot. Man, that's tough.

I sincerely hope Karma comes back around to that driver. I have many violent ideas about what that karma could be... some have already been mentioned.
