BTW, I sent a somewhat more reasoned email to the editor of the American Spectator re the shameful treatment of the late Mr. Scott.

Ugh, that was sickening to read. One short paragraph, and a bunch of drivel about poor, poor Mr. Janklow and the effect it might have on his political career. Boo f'n Hoo.

I'm with you, Glider. There's responsible harvesting and there's the clearcutting destruction. Can't condone the latter.

Don't answer him. Ever. Don't respond. It drives him nuts...... well, too late for that. but it's still fun.

It's all reletive, Small fires that keep combustibles from building up are fine, or fires in remote areas, but large out of control fires near populated areas are not.

Look at the Kelowna fires in BC. Or some of those Malibu fires a few years ago. People are building right up to the brush line, then demanding green belts and "natural habitats". What do they think will happen when that stuff lights?

As far as the spotted owl BS, I thought that was Booth Gardner and the Sierra club that shoved that one through.

Yep you are right the spotted owl was those guys. Hey I don't agree with that. You are right about the greenbelt thing. Look at the fire by Carnation. They were lucky the wind was favorable. Everyone wants a greenbelt till it's on fire. Some of the best firefighters I worked with were from Southern Cal who spent their careers protecting the rich and famous from wildfires.

Seruzawa,

I can tell you are the type that would rather put on rose colored glasses and go with the flow then want to see the crap that flows around all of us. I haven't said anything about Clinton being a saint of the forests. I will say that Bush big business up his wazoo everyday and always. Paper companies do not plant forests they plant monoculture farms full of lodgepole pines and the like. If you don't like the way I feel about things then tough tittty.
