first post! are there any links to what this Beta RR50 Enduro my look like? I always thought that the US is too bent up on big engines, and that small scoots that look like bigger cooler bikes are just not available, given their smaller profit potential. I guess we'll never know.
Someone here in Milpitas has an Aprilia RS50, now that's a cool scoot, but I wish the RS250 came with a street legal motor, like the Kawi 250. |

Hey, it WAS the first one that actually had anything to do with the article!
I agree that a street legal version of the Aprilia 250 would be a real kick. For that matter, one of the flock of 125 GP replicas that flood the streets of Europe would also be great fun -- imagine the fun of blowing past some squid on an R1 with a little 125! When I lived in Switzerland a few years ago, I was frequently on the receiving end of such humiliation |

Out of curiosity, if we were to drop into said motorcycle shop and drop 3 grand on one of these little beauties, how much would it cost us to "take it home with us"?

In 98, I had a "grey market" RS-250 Street Bike. It really wasn't much of a street bike. Stoplight launches were sort of fun, but obnoxious. It was pretty good in the twisties and could hold its own, as long as you were willing to ride it like the two-stroke GP bike that it is, but that actually gets old, fairly quickly. It does make an ok track day bike, but is no rocketship like a real TZ or Honda RS 250.

Be very careful if you attempt to do this. I had a bike sit in a warehouse for a month while it cleared EPA requirements. It cost more than the bike was worth to get it out.

Sorry about the delay in responding. I am in the U.S. Military, and have been very busy. I am guessing that it would be somewhere around $400 to convert it to U.S. specs. If you are serious about buying one, contact me at melillom@lamadd.navy.mil
