It's true that there IS that 1% of sportbike riders who need track reviews so that they can go racing. Of course, there IS that 1% of cruiser riders who ride cruisers in twisty mountain canyons instead of boulevards, so handling and power characteristics are as important as looks and "attitude". I've been riding a Shadow 600 for four years, primarily in the mountain canyons of Colorado (though I did cross the Medicine Bow Mountains of Wyoming, topping out at 12,600 feet. Brrrr!!!). I've nearly maxed out the rear shock to improve ground clearance and poise in corners; switched the tires from Bridgestones to Metzelers for better handling; and even learned how to shift my weight off the bike in more extreme corners. I _like_ hearing about ground clearance, poise in handling, and power (in stock form--I HATE loud pipes) even in cruiser reviews.
I went to a Harley rally once, and after being the ONLY person there in a full-face helmet, and getting tired of parading at 2 mph (couldn't even let out the clutch all the way!), I took off and have never been to another since. |

...is rather the reason why this should be of public note. It is necessary to inform the public as to how to use something more necessary for communication than telephone lines or the Internet: the rules of the language we use.

Get a clean used Road Star 1600. After 3 months of riding, you'll be happier with the bigger torque.
You are way to big for the baby star, get the Road Star. If you are concerned about having too much power too soon, only ever give it 1/3 throtle between shifts. |
