Default Street Bike "stunt" DVDs, anything positive about them?

Is it like Porn, where you can learn things to do from the safty of your own house or is it like kiddy porn where even watching from your own house you are going to burn in hell and be spit on?

I think DVD's are cool, I have worked booths for many companys that sell DVD's. I was on the International Motorcycle Tour (IMS tour owned by advancestar which bought 2 wheel tuner) for 4 years selling the Adrenaline Crew DVDs and never had anyone come up and act like a jerk like they do on forums.

Is it just that people act like they care on the internet but in reality think its just as ammusing as any other jackass video on the web? Or is it really like bringing Hitler back from the dead?

Statistics prove street bikes kill less riders then Harleys and so forth, and fatality caused by a motorcycle rider is even less (aside from passenger if your stupid enough to do a wheelie with another human life).

I just don't understand the Internet HATE on motorcycle stunt videos. I do understand how most DVDs just have guys zooming by cars and wrecking into walls which is retarded again, but I think there is some value, if not "What not to do" but "something like Jackass, stupid videos to enjoy".

"Statistics prove street bikes kill less riders then Harleys and so forth.."

Harleys aren't street bikes? Like Sportsters? The most deadly motorcycles by far are race replicas. That's why they can cost $5-6K per year to insure.

More and more states are proposing draconian fines, license suspensions and forfeitures for "stunts". BTW, for stunters, the word "forfeiture" means that the govt takes your bike if you do something they don't like and the word "draconian" refers to punishments that are over-severe. As is usual with govt these laws are aimed at serious violations like 90mph wheelies, but as usual the laws will be interpreted as widely as possible to include people who aren't stunters but who, say, do a small low speed wheelie or maybe speed 20 over. Local law enforcement will apply these laws as widely as possible so that there will be plenty of money for the cities to waste and plenty of confiscated motorcycles for the cops to take home.

So stunting has a widespread effect that affects a lot more bikers than the individual stunters. That why a lot of motorcyclists detest stunters. Most are short attention span adrenalin junkies who will quit riding after the "high" wears off, leaving the rest of us to deal with the fallout of their criminal acts.

If not for the increasingly fascistic nanny-state we live in I wouldn't care that much about stunters. But having ridden for 40 years I remember all the crap we had to deal with in the 60s-70s because of the 1947 Hollister incident. It's starting again because of stunters.

Funny you should use the "porn" analogy; I did months ago. Except I don't find a lot to feel good about with pornography, and I sure don't see it as an educational tool.

When an anti-social, deviant behavior is glorified, it's really not in anybody's best interest. I'd say 10% of the stunt video content out there is exhibitions done in a controlled environment. The stuff that sells is stunting being done on public streets. Motorcycle stunting on public roads is well on the way to doing what decades of Hells Angels and other 1%'s never managed to do: piss off so many people so much that a real threat to motorcycling is raised.

If folks want to gang-bang in the privacy of their own home, I say have at it. If you want to do it in front of my kid, I have an issue with that. Same goes for stunting.

haha, good comments.

Only thing i can say is Stunt riders sure took the pressure off of street racers!!!

The only people I know who "stunt" are so good at it they can go the speed limit, and do wheelies in circles. Not justifing it, just saying I think there is a difference from a suiciadal madman kamakazi wheelie and an experianced rider.

Since the big TeeVee only shows Speed Channel (QUIET! I've convinced the kid he can't tune in Cartoon Network in the living room) I sometimes watch SuperBikes. On Sunday the show was all about these guys tearing around an office/industrial park on their motard/stunt bikes. One of the bikes had a bumpersticker that said "Stunting isn't a Crime!" I spotted it as they showed the bike crashing through a landscaped area to ride up the stairs of an office building. Wow, it's a good thing the show refuses to accept home videos. They might encourage riders to do inappropriate things with their bikes if they did.

Exactly Ken, thankfully stunters are highly skilled professionals who understand the risks and would never do anything like have someone follow them down the freeway and film them doing that stuff in traffic, then have some wannabe try to sell the videos online.

Only about 90% of stunters do that stuff, the so-called 90%'ers..... the rest of them are just law abiding citizens who happen to ride motorcycles, they could be Fast food workers, Landscape laborers, stock room attendants, construction laborers or even students....you'd never know
