Re: Hmm....

Dude, you should know, the new VFR is even heavier than before. 472 pounds dry....Not to mention FUUUUUGly! :) This is a bike that has gone down hill in styling year after year. Now the new 954 or whatever, that is a fine looking machine....

Re: All New Yamaha R1

The GIXR 1K may be the end all be all of litre bikes, but the buddy of mine who got one still gets in my way in the corners (I ride an R-6). After a while, being able to say my **** is bigger than yours gets you no where, except the back of the pack lookin like a squid because you still can't ride for beans...

I like the new looks (especially the silver). Also, don't forget that ANY of the big 4 could put out 200hp motors if they wanted to.....

Um, my bike has tanked me in the groin many a time coming off of a weelie. Does that count?

Yeah, a 996 is a great ride. Too bad it has a 2X4 for a seat, is grossly underpowered and has more snob appeal than owning a BMW, Rolls, and Mercedies combined! (oh, and lets not forget the rediculous price tag) If you are going to go Italian, try the Aprillia Falco. Now THAT is a mean mammajamma.

Hear hear! A fellow R-6 rider with my own sinsible reality. I am lucky to get my 6 past 10 grand more than once or twice a week. (I ride everyday to and from work. 12K miles on my 01).

A buddy of mine has an R1. I rode it. I hated the clutch. The chassis was of course, great. But talk about overkill in the power department! Who really needs that kind of power? yeah, he blows me away on the straights but so what? Get over it! For the average non squidly rider, any of the 600's are plenty of bike for fun. (unless you are a big dude).

Re: 2002 Yamaha R1 a Dissappointment

R1 handles bad? You are smoking crack. Go buy a rebel and give it a ride. THAT is bad handling.

I think that Elvis actually knows what the F he is talking about. I own a 2000 R1 and i just got back from the DRA convention in Las Vegas. (DRA= Ducati Revs America). The DRA convention was held at the Las Vegas speedway and about four million 996's showed up. One of my buddies own a 996 and i got to compare it and my bike on the track. The Duc felt really good in the turns and kept up well, but when the exit of the turn came, it got flat out smoked by the other R1's on the track. The 916's were a little faster than the 996's, but not very close to the R1's.

Re: BWAHAHAHA

Whoa-- civility and reconcilation on an MO superbike forum. A flame war averted.

I'm just a little creeped out by this.

Sex in bed maybe? I don't like to have to shower after every ride.

You must not have ridden an R1 before because you are horribly mistaken my friend.
