Your right - I can't believe BMW is expecting to sell (maybe more will sell in Europe) enough of these bikes to justify the cost of exporting them to the USA. Ya I wish my ZRX1200 had a tad more storage area but what I do have is an engine that constantly reminds me I'm on a motorcycle and not in my Nissan.

Like the belt drive. Hate the rest. Give me the "normal" F650 with a belt!

Default Price

I agree. I would definitely buy this as a commuter if it wasn't so damn expensive. Maybe at $6500, definitely at $6000, no way at $8000.

Can you name ONE other motorcycle, equipped with Anti-Lock Brakes, that goes for under $9,000?? I'll wait.

Didn't think so.

Stop about the price, then.

Excellent! Somebody finally made the "Buck Rodgers Anniversary Edition" bike I've been waiting my whole life for.

I don't think I've ever seen a motorcycle I'd more want to watch ridden directly off a steep cliff, to delight as it gradually explodes into hundreds of misshapen components.

I won't confess to be a BMW fan, I do like japanese bikes more, I'm probably more mainstream, and I'm okay with that. BMW, as far as build quality, rates among the best on earth. But style is style and some people will love or hate anything, so what can you do? I find it difficult to appreciate a bike that looks like it's made for light off-road duty (like some of Beem's other bikes actually are) when it's really designed only for street use. The proportions look odd to me, but isn't that often a consequence of advanced thinking? The front end, while more than beefy enough for it's purpose, LOOKS fragile. The bodywork looks (to me) like aftermarket fiberglass, probably because its shape belies current trends. Again, forward thinking and as others have said, kudos to BMW for taking the chance on aesthetics. I'm sure it doesn't break the hearts of BMW designers if this bike doesn't appeal to me. It will appeal to many others, and BMW will achieve their intent, if not here, then certainly elsewhere in the world. So, pretty much, I've said a whole lot of nothing. But then again, that's something I'm quite good at.
