Does the term "hand shift and foot clutch" mean anything to you?
And with the Truckster clutch you get rid of the centrifugal deal all together. Is that so right...

Airborne Cushmans?
You know you are going to lose the war when the enemy holds you in such contempt that they drop scooters on you. All you need to do is put in some Spongebob references and you got a kicker article on your hands there, bub. |

Rory - fine article - I for one am always interested in the Euro/Sino/Aussie perspective on bike topics because it seems that bikes and scooters have a different public perception outside of the US. I have never owned a scooter but I think they make sense for lots of local errands or in college campuses. But for serious playing in traffic I would rather be on a motorcycle.

Ug. Sorry Rory, but when I saw the title I was looking for something else. I was all excited about some kind of motorcycle vs. scooter comparison, maybe by price, or weight, or engine displacement. But no, I got a history lesson and your reaction to a scooter rally. Not interested in either one.
MO, now that we've had the tease, can we have the real thing? Some of us would like to know how the small-wheel, big-engine machines compare to real motorcycles on real roads, rather than in some freelancer's tortured id. |

..the Cushman airborne program was a failure, since the army put too small of a parachute on it, and it would hit the ground with enough force to dig itself to china, and bend the scooter in half at the floorboards.
...so drop to the deck and flop like a fish..

My uncle had a Mustang back in the 50's. It was the first motorcycle I ever rode on. I didn't realize at the time that I wasn't having any fun at all being that it wasn't an I4 and didn't have 2500hp. I'm glad that the experts have set me straight since then.

I did 6500 miles in 8 days on a Honda Silverwing. They're GREAT for long distance.

Anybody on two wheels deserves our respect regardless of what they ride!!!!
- I agree. Whenever I see some NASCAR hotdog I always say "Do it on 2 wheels, THEN I'll be impressed" |
