Ride a burgman 650 (or any og the 500+cc mega scoots) . I challege you to not change your mind about the role of scooters after that.

xlr8r, you nailed it in one paragraph or less. I wouldn't be without my motorcycle or my scooter. I've almost completely worn out my Kymco Cobra, and have been keeping an eye out for its replacement.

I'm inside the beltway, and on hot summer days, the scooter, sandals, half helmet, shorts and Hawaiian style shirt is the only way to travel. Buzzing about town so attired feels like you're on vacation, and is better than air conditioning could ever be!

That said, if you don't live in the hub of a major metro area, scooters probably aren't for you.

Me too. I wave to bicyclists too, since I'm also one of those. Us two-wheeled kindred need to stick together.

These sound like great reasons to me. But indeed you do not need my or anyone else's approval. I ride a motorcycle and love it. When I pass you on your scooter, I'll wave. Ride what you love, love what you ride, and stop worrying about this crap, is my thought. It's like the whole "Harley vs. Japanese bike" thing. Just ride it.
