I don't get this bike... It's like a those hybrid bicycles i.e cross between a mountain bike and a road bike. You get the worst of both worlds. The flimsy frame of a road bike and the mountain bike treaded tires. Don't think think this bike has much use except for being a police bike in corrupt South American Drug capitals with poor roads.. Great write up by the way..

Thanks for the test Guys, I've been looking forward to it and it was worth the wait. I've been thinking about getting a KLR for years and yet have had no success having a Bud buy one, for me to use :-(

Dirt is fun on two wheels and it's getting to be pain in the butt loading up a truck every time I need a fix (the truck and dirtbikes being 20 miles from where I live). Fifteen minutes or less and I'm wiped out, it takes more than 2 hours to get that 15 minutes. If only there was a Motorcycle that could be ridden both to and on the dirt.

I admit to having some serious Adventure Touring plans (fantasy's?) after watching "The long way 'round". I kept thinking how much easier a trip like that would be on something like a KLR 650. The GS1200 would rule on the road but the KLR would rock off-road (relatively). If Adventure touring has much "off the beaten path" to it the new KLR, with the old reliability, seems a sensible choice.

I don't get motorcycles. Why do they make different models?

That is a helluva lot of motorcycle for $5,349. I am disappointed though in MO though. No hooligan wheelie pics? ;D

I got my 06 for $4100 with 350 miles on it.

I can pimp it out for the difference easy.

I believe the old models' publicized weight was wishful thinking. aka a big fat lie.

Advrider KLRistas report only 15lb measured difference.
