For you East-coasters, I invite you try the school of dodge-deer. It's free but can cost plenty. The curriculum includes acorn spotting, leaf identification, gravel recognition, decreasing radius turns, snake spotting, turtle bumps, possum passing, squirrelly squirrels, bear 101 and of course, deer-dodging. Your instructors are provided by Mother Nature, free of charge, and you get to pick your own route. Graduation ceremonies are conducted at your garage provided you make it there.

A buddy of mine was like that in traffic, I would just let him go and see him when I got to work. Then one day on the bay bridge he got taken out, luckily no major injuries. It was just a matter of time riding like that though...

Default Additional classes by MN

I would add tree branch avoidance, which I failed. I am retaking the class in later October and November. November is actually the most rain and wind for Seattle. I am also taking a night class in taught by Ricky Raccoon and Peppy LePew (Skunk)

It's probably the same guy that's punching himself in the chops in picture # 19

I either ride because I have somewhere to go and the bike is how I get there or I go out to get my knees in the breeze, it's not an obsessive "activity" that I want to improve my "performance" on. I just do it because it's more fun than driving.

Rear braking also works great if you have to negotiate a slow (3mph) tight turn.

I have to cop a U-ie every day in a public garage where I work. I just come into the garage, hit the rear brake as I gas it, and cop the U into my parking spot.

Try it! It works.
