I'm sure it works well. Does it have to look that ugly though?

i have not ridden every twin ever built but i did own an advenure 950. a 748 ducati racebike and a 900 monster at the same time. I have quite a bit of mileage on a multistrada too. I have not ridden a huge supermoto and I doubt the concept will catch on. the whole point of a supermoto in my view is light and nimble, but i've been wrong a lot.

With that said, the katoom motor is a marvel of power delivery. however, I never got used to the 60 degree twin vibration. If the vibration doesn't bug you and it doesn't seem to bother many, it would be a fantastic motor. Oil changes are way more time consuming than the should be but again, that could be part of the charm. the duc, an aircooled 90 degree takes a while to warm up, like an hour, and then it is just a really friendly motor. it doesn't bite, has plenty of zip everywhere and generally is, in my view one of the true joys of motorcycling.

I don't own a multi for only one reason. it would have to tour, and i can't quite emotionally deal with trusting a ducati 3,000 miles from home. Plus the wheel base seemed short too me and as a result the bike is just a little twitchy. But for many that's a good thing. For me, I prefer a little heavier and longer bike for long rides and own a vfr for touring. But it ain't perfect either.

So if you want smooth fun light bke get the multi. if you want to wheelie all over and generally act like a wild out of control teenager, which is also cool, then the katoom is it. if they threw a 996 motor in the multi, then you would have a decent motor comparison. i don't want a vicious motor in my street bikes. but thats just me.

homestly i don't think the bikes are anywhere close to the same type of bikes.

regards

ed

I prefer the Airheads and early K's like the two i owned. The new Oilheads seem to have their share of problems.

Probably all the cheapo East German labor the factory hired with their lackadaisical work ethics...

That flat fairing looks a bit like the front of a Cushman scooter.

That being said every one of those Adventure Tourers, except the Tiger, is close to as ugly a bike as was ever built. (Nothing can top the Ruin.) You'd almost think ugliness was a requirement. Functionality doesn't require hideousness, y' know.

From what I've been reading and hearing BMW made a huge mistake by going to the CAN bus. Apparently the system simply stops talking to the fuel pump at odd moments and the bike simply dies. After a while it starts up again. Unacceptable in a bike that expensive. Unacceptable in a cheap one too for that matter.

On Mars. Polar ice melting. Rather inconvenient truth for the Goebbels Warning crowd.

Speaking of polar ice -

An EskimoÂ’s motorcycle starts handling like crap. He takes it to a mechanic, who says, "I think youÂ’ve blown a seal."

The Eskimo replies, "No, thatÂ’s just a little ice on my mustache."

What do you fools know? The GMP has determined that Sportbikes with the "Racer-Boy-munky-humpin'-a-futbol" seating position is Vastly Superior to any other form of Moto.

You all merely have experience with multiple bikes, and a broad range of seating-positions amongst them. He owns a battery charger.

Do NOT Doubt The GMP!!!

I guess I'm just crazy, but I think it looks great.
