OK, replace "failure" with "sales disappointment".

From the news clip above:

"He loved it, its owners love it, but the public has mostly given it the cold shoulder"

As far as the 999 goes, the articles I've read consistently mention disappointing sales as the motivating force behind the quick redesign.

The multistrada rider couldn't laugh long enough waiting for you.

Re: 2007 Ducati Multistrada 1100

I owned a '04 DS1000 for a little less than a year. I put 4000 miles on the bike and enjoyed almost all of them. When Cycle World named it sport tourer of the year I wrote in and asked "are you high?" I think the wind protection sucks on the highway. (I'm 6'3")

The multistrada is a wonderful bike that allows you to ride any road like your favorite road.

For any street, backroad stuff the bike has got to be one of the best out there, period.

Now as far as looks go, well, the front end is a bit screwed up, the rear is flat sexy with the SSSA. But how can you beat a ducati trellis frame?

+1!

I'd buy a Monster just to stick in my living room and stare at the frame.

Buy the standard one used for a bit over $7k. Skip the S.

Same here. And I've optimized (that means "raise the rear") the suspension, so it is a bit awkward when I stop it. Alas, I am too old to do the track stands that the bicycle racers like to do.

If my BMW ever bit the dust, my first choice for a replacement would be a Multistrada!

How does the motor stack up to the KTM 950SM mill? I am trying to figure out if I should get the KTM SM or wait for the Ducati version.

There's an '02 Foggy monster near by that needs a new home.

The "look at the big stiff frame wrapped in plastic" is not as sexy as it was in '85

I run a Fox double clicker on the rear and have a CC products fork brace on the front. They make a big difference when riding aggressively.
