I plan on buying one for my daughters to learn on, I think they're a pretty decent looking bike

You might want to clarify that you are paraphrasing Kbigot, otherwise you might get some hate mail...or more hate mail than usual.

Apologies - you mentioned KLR several times and I crossed my synapses because I had one - the criticism is still valid I think - the DRE is not much different from the KLR in its handling, performance - I know the appropriately unheralded Korean manufacturer keeps repeating how many bikes its made for so many years - it considers itself the closet Honda apparently - what kind of bikes? - 60cc whizzers for farmers to carry turnips to market with? - 100cc bruisers with sidecars driven on the muddy roads of Indochina - much of the bragging of the unknown motorcycle manufacturers ignores the sophistication of those machines or their performance, which is what US cycle discussions are about - I'm sure the Chinese have made lots of little putt-putt bikes too - to besmirch the name of Kawasaki in this way is too much - such words should never enter be uttered - let me just conclude with some words that dreams are made of: H1, Z900, Z1, EX, KX and finally NINJA - remember - keep it green

Well longride I guess your crystal ball works better than my hands on 22 years of practical experience. How typical.

Default Silly Gabe

If we read the stories thoroughly we wouldn't be able to make knee jerk comments.

You have any idea how boring this board would get with a bunch of well-reasoned posts?

Screw you!

Default Hyosung

They made licence-built Suzuki models for many years, and then started designing their own bikes -- with Suzuki's help in some way -- in the late 1980s. These were 250cc and smaller motorcycles and scooters, for sure, but that's because of the nature of the Asian market, not because they didn't know how to build larger motorcycles.

Hyosung has been a well-known brand in Asia and Europe for many years. Just because it hasn't been known by you doesn't make it some kind of fly-by-night operation that all of a sudden is selling cheap Honda monkey 50 knock-offs. I think if you rode one back-to-back with your EX500 you would understand why we liked the Comet.

They were a gay basketball team from their gay-only college. You haven't heard of that?
