I love playing "Guess the rat bike" once you flat black a sport bike it takes some looking to figure out what it is.

BBQ beef sandwich. I 'spose I could have brought along my own tortillas and wrapped it up.

Test drove all but the Harley (don't need to test a $30K bike) and found the Rocket III to be much more fun. The others all seemed like Shadow 750s compared to the RIII except the M109, which had decent power. Still was a far cry from the RIII. Can't believe there's a "godzilla" category without it.

Yeah, it's a matter of balance. There's a thing called 'the pace' which basically spells out how to have fun on a motorcycle without a whole lot of risk.

The idea is, you kinda glide up to corner, perhaps over the speed limit, but not enough to attract undue attention.

Select a gear that seems about right for the corner, then back off or get on the throttle as the corner reveals itself. Don't get too carried away by seeing how fast you can go down the next straight, in case the next turn is sharper than expected. That also gives the slower members of the group a chance to catch up without being crazy. Repeat as necessary.

There are H-Ds out putting serious miles under their wheels and always have been, but the New Breed of Harley rider (read: RUB) spends most of his time parked at a bar, consulting his Crackberry.

My Div. Mgr. goes to Sturgis 'most every year - trucks everything up there in a ToyHauler. Parks 15-20 miles out, unpacks the bike, then rolls around on the ground and rides his Harley (very shakily, I might add - he doesn't believe me when I talk to him about countersteering) the rest of the way in. Just for that "Rough and Tumble, Iron-Assed Biker" look. He's told me as much. Looks down on me a bit 'cuz I don't ride a "REAL-MAN'S Motorcycle". But thinks I'm Bug-Fsckin' NUTS 'cuz I ride in the Winter (which, BTW - has actually gotten him to ride a bit this Winter - on the milder days - 50deg and up).

The personification of a RUB, to be sure. But, as I've learned - he really DOES have an enthusiasm for Motorcycling.

Well, as another friend of mine is fond of saying "EVERY DAY can be Halloween, if you own a Harley".

"...I guarantee the Rocket gets the attention, out performs and out handles all of these bikes. "

Wha...wha...whattt! Out handles?! Are you insane in the membrane? The Rocket gets attention indeed, but it steers like a garbage scow.

"Once again you are dorks miss the boat.... "

"All your base are belong to us."

Dork.
