Default We Disagree

It's the largest-displacement bike short of the Boss Hoss, with an enging that would be respectable in a small sports car. We wanted to have one in the test quite badly, but Triumph did not have one available. It's as simple as that, but thanks for covering for us!

Default Re: Defending MO: Why the Rocket shouldn't be included.

If they could shave some width off the Rocket III, and reduce engine size to something in the 1500cc range, I would have been interested. With that said, I still hope the Rocket does not go the way of the Dodo.

Mystique has nothing to do with it. Park all these bikes next to one another and the Harley wins the paint/chrome/fit/finish battle by a landslide.

As nice as the Yamaha is, it still has a bunch of ugly stuff (charcoal canister, wiring, etc) just painted black and nailed to the side of the frame.

Jack summed it up best when he said, "I'm not a cruiser guy but it seems to me all these bikes are trying to be like the Harley."

Oh, and I voted the Kawi #1. It's the spittin' image of a large fatboy.

Since a single-pin crank doesn't offer any performance advantage, why use it unless it's to replicate the potato-potato of the H-D?

"I certainly don't claim to be a genius, but I just don't get the appeal of a bike that costs what these bikes cost and yet still drag parts at moderate cornering speeds."

You don't live in the flat bits of the Midwest, do you? Because that's where these bikes make all kinds of sense. Cities, too.

Not everyone rides in curvy country.

Besides the obvious missing real Godzilla Cruisers, doesn't H-D have a little thing called a V-Rod that would have any of these for lunch and actually handles like, well, a motorcycle and is still considered a cruiser because of the riding position? Interesting fun article, but kinda misses the mark for a "Godzilla Cruiser" thing without the real Godzillas there!

H-D actually makes a big-bore version of the Vrod but it's still only 1250cc. It would make a lot more hp but also a lot less torque. VRSCX.

Good test guys, thanks. A Huge slice of the sales market and all... For some reason the 1098 seems to keep coming up. Looking forward to the next Sportbike test... and the follow-up Sport-tour test...
