Funny how a guy that can build anything and do everything can't even change his spark plugs or check valve clearances on a motorcycle. It must be amazing to be so technically astute, yet can't even post a simple picture of yourself standing next to your motorcycle on a web site. Of course, if I was a habitual liar and an ugly geek, I wouldn't want anyone to see me either.

The first motorcycle I owned was a used 1972 Triumph Bonneville I bought for 600 bucks. It had drum brakes, kick start, points, Amal carbs and oil leaks. Rode it stock for one year and then I modified it into a unique street tracker, and the lessons I learned riding and working on that machine served me well to this day. Maybe if ol' ZX6 boy started with such a machine, he could actually talk intelligently about motorcycles, instead of foaming at the mouth when we do. Putting in gas and turning the key doesn't make you a motorcyclist, at least not in my book.

He used to use that line on the girls at the local watering hole.

You can guess the result.

The other engineers on my team would be suprised to learn how clueless about electronics and software I am. I guess having worked on everything from tubes to satellites is poor experience compared to someone who once screwed with a Z80.

Thanks!

You're right about that, we could use a few "Color Sergeants" (who sound and look like Victor McLaughlin) running things about now. Of couse, they'd all be using "Martinis".

Here's my favourite stanza from Gunga Din:

"So I'll meet 'im later on, at the place where 'e is gone-

Where it's always double drill and no canteen;

'E'll be sqattin' on the coals,

Givin' drinks to poor damned souls,

An' I'll get a swig in hell from Gunga Din!

That first one was from "Danny Deever" btw.

Default Re: Royal Enfield Bullet Sixty-5 Riding Impression

I'd rather have the Victor and tinker with it than have a new Enfield and still have to tinker with it.

The Bonnie's working out great, it hasn't missed a beat in 7 k miles since June, I would have rode it more but I picked up an '89 Range Rover Classic and I've been screwing around with that alot too. I played around with the intake and exhaust on the Bonnie and horse traded for some Hagon Nitro shocks and springs, then added a leather Corbin seat and it's it's ball to ride, even at my size. Handles good, runs nice and crisp...looks great, What can I say.

I want to get a Bandit or some other triple or 4 because I like the power but the Bonnies a keeper.

Default Wrong!

Your logic is flawed on two counts;

1) The girls part.

2) Going to a local watering hole.

He used to use that line on the boys in the glee club.

Better
