Well Dave, I have. I still can't tell you whether there's an "up" or a "down".

But then, I don't use the camlock straps for the front of the bike - ratcheting only.

No sarcasm here - if there is a good reason for having them one way or another - for God's sake; let me know, dammit!

I have NO wish to pick my pride-and-joy up off the pavement/trailer floor/top of another pride-and-joy.

You have no pickup truck and nowhere to put a trailer. What to do?

It's a very clever design. Is it $1400 worth of cleverness? I can't tell you - I have more than one pickup; selected for their "Hauling/Utility Abilities" rather than snob/cowboy-cadillac appeal. I also have an enclosed trailer modified with the express purpose of hauling bikes around in relative security, AND a place to keep all this.

IF I were a renter, and IF I didn't have a truck, or a place to store a trailer - THEN I would be interested in the Stinger. I'd be even more interested were it $400-$500 less expensive.

Actually, that last statement is a Lie. I'd just look one over (in person, if possible) and build my own - WITH the addition of any custom needs and wants I might have of my own.

Imitation is the most Sincere form of Flattery........

If I'm going to fit into this GenX stereotype that you guys and KPaul labor under, I'm going to have to request that neons be an option.

Oh and I have to sell my M50 for a squidmobile.

I'd bet that you could find someone locally who could fabricate the same thing from scratch at half the cost.

Sorry about that.

My comments apply to camlock only. If you look at the forces in the strap and friction in the camlock, you'll see that placing the lock near the bars and pulling down on the free end will both compress the forks and pull the slack through the lock, requiring far less force.

Much safer than "heaving up" on the strap.

This doesn't apply to ratcheting types, as they wind the extra strap onto locking mechanism.
