In engines with redlines as low as these long stroked V-Twins there is really no technological advantage to OHC. There is actually a production penalty in that a pushrod engine is easier to assemble. OHC is vital to avoid the reciprocating and valve float factors in high RPM engines. This is also one reason why so many engines are 4-valve even though a 2 valve engine will still flow more maximum air than a 4 valve. The lighter valves allow far higher rpms

So it's dangerous to throw out "functional superiority" so gratuitously.

dunno, I live in Los Angeles, and have seen just ONE Victory motorcycle on the street, period. About two years ago...

Myself, I think Victory missed the mark. They should have taken that big v-twin, and stuck it in something different (al la Buell). Or something classic.

The tourer is horrendous looking. And they both share a headlight that looks like it came off a desk lamp.

One thought Victory, keep the Canadians out of the design process.

Hey that actually makes sense to me.. I remember reading about the valve float thing in high rpm engines...Of course Victory would counter that this is a "power" cruiser.. pruiser... thus the need for the OHC.. However, looking at the torque charts from the cruiser shootout...the Victory has a max rpm similar to the pushrod Warrior. The HD VRod looks like a better deal all around i.e. maybe Buz's shoot out ratings are credible now.. (not GPTB biased).

Hey I learn something new every day from you guys.. better check traffic been here since 7 AM.. Get my Ninja back tomorrow...

I hear ya.. ... After my wreck I am on kitchen probabation from the wife.. Before the wreck she was warming up to the Buell idea cause I said I could do the maintenance myself.... I was going to take that Motorcycle Maintennce class up at Lake Washington VoTech... I heard they are V-Twin oriented.. I'll take another run at it this spring.. commuting to Bellevue is the pits... Get the Ninja back tomorrow. may try commuting on it again.. or go to 4 10s. To beat most of traffic I start work at 7 AM but most of time I get held up till 6 PM... if it rains it can take 2.5 hrs from Auburn.

I've seen 3 and it was all on the same day and they were all parked right next to each other.

I'm always curious when manufacturers release sales percentage increases rather than actual sales numbers like H-D.

Well, if you only sold 100 motorcycles and then sold 200 the next year, it sounds much more impressive to trumpet a 100% sales increase than the fact that you only sold 200 bikes. Harley is also the ONLY manufacturer to give a complete balance sheet online, along with all the sales numbers which inclued breakdowns by catagory. I haven't found one other manufacturer, including all the Japanese ones, that give out that info. I wonder why?
